Qantas is removing Airbus A380 flights for the Northern Winter 2026/27 schedule between Melbourne and Los Angeles.
The complete axing from 25 October 2026 will see the Airbus A380 service discontinued, with all seven weekly flights, or the daily service, to be operated by the Boeing 787-9. This replaces the previous twice-weekly superjumbo flight and five weekly 787 service.
Flagged by aeroroutes.com, the change comes during the Winter season and will see the Airbus A380 redeployed elsewhere on the network, with sufficient 787-9 capacity between the two segments.
QF93 is scheduled to depart Melbourne at 2315 and arrive in Los Angeles at 1840. This is then followed up by a 2250 departure from Los Angeles and a 0930 arrival in Melbourne two days later.
Qantas Also Makes Dallas Changes
Qantas’ decision to cancel Airbus A380 service is based on changes to its operations between Sydney and Dallas-Fort Worth throughout 2026.
In March, the airline confirmed that, between the 6th and 22nd of the month, it would operate the Boeing 787-9 on alternating days between the two cities, with the 787 service complemented by the routine A380 service.

That change was then also complemented by a schedule adjustment from 31 July through 21 August, which will see three of the seven weekly flights typically operated by the A380 switch to the Boeing 787.
Capacity reductions during the northern summer schedule will occur for the three weeks on QF7/8 and are part of the persistent changes to the flag-carrier’s network.
QF7 is scheduled to depart Sydney at 1200 and arrive in Dallas-Fort Worth at 1230. The return flight QF8 departs Dallas at 2255 and arrives in Sydney two days later at 0655, all times local to each city.
Qantas Launches New Las Vegas Flights
Even with the shift in capacity from Melbourne to Los Angeles, Qantas remains heavily committed to serving the United States, as evidenced by its newly announced seasonal service to Las Vegas from Sydney, slated to commence.

This not only becomes the 101st destination in the network but also the eighth city across North and South America, with Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Dallas, New York, Vancouver and Santiago all seeing the flying kangaroo.
The business continues to place importance on transpacific flights and, with the upcoming delivery of additional widebody aircraft and the capabilities of the newly delivered A321XLR, is expected to see its international network reshaped considerably, with the aircraft utilised.
