Qantas is expanding its presence in the United States with new nonstop flights between Sydney and Las Vegas, tapping into unserved demand for a premier leisure destination.

The new route marks a significant step in Qantas’ global network development. It is part of a strategy across the Trans-Pacific corridor, with now more convenient access to Nevada and beyond.

With the airline now also becoming the first in the world to operate nonstop service between Australia and Las Vegas, it will become the 101st destination in the Qantas network and the eighth city across North and South America.

The airline already serves Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Dallas, New York, Vancouver and Santiago. With the expected arrival of more widebody jets, the business will continue to seek untapped potential.

Qantas’ Las Vegas Flight Details

Qantas’ Boeing 787 nonstop service to Las Vegas, departing Sydney, is scheduled to operate as QF55, with the inaugural flight on 29 December 2026. This is expected to operate until 12 March 2027 initially.

It isn’t uncommon for the Australian flag-carrier to trial these new international long-haul routes on a seasonal basis before determining whether demand trends would support the airline scaling to year-round.

The series will be offered three times a week on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, departing on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, with economy return fares starting at AUD $1,099.

Qantas says QF55 will depart Sydney at 2100 and arrive in Las Vegas at 1555. This provides an approximate flight time of around 13 hours and 55 minutes all up, and Frequent Flyers can earn double the Points on Hotels and Holiday Packages to Las Vegas bookings made before 2 March 2026.

What This Means For Qantas Customers

Qantas’ new Boeing 787 Dreamliner service from Sydney to Las Vegas delivers benefits for customers, slashing up to 5 hours off journeys by eliminating a layover in the United States and the need for a connecting flight.

The President and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Steve Hill, has said that Qantas’ new nonstop service from Sydney is a strong testament to the market potential between the two locations.

Additionally, Australia has been positioned as the second-largest overseas market for Las Vegas and the top international market without nonstop service, with more than 250,000 visits every year, underscoring demand.

Moreover, outbound from the United States last year, 745,000 Americans visited Australia, and with the commencement of thrice-weekly flights, even more opportunities will be available to customers, including nonstop flights from Las Vegas.
