Mystery has emerged across the industry over an Airbus A380-800, which has entered headlines in recent days.

EFW, Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH, have confirmed that their new customer, ALG, represented by Gregory Thornton and Martyn Anderson, was proud to announce the arrival of MSN006.

This is the first A380 to be served in Dresden on behalf of the client. The details were shared in a LinkedIn post, which also included comments about the good condition of the aircraft.

Additionally, EFW confirmed the jet would complete a final maintenance check before the Airbus A380 would return to operation.

A History Of MSN006

MSN006 was first delivered to Singapore Airlines in March 2008, being among the first batch of the world’s largest passenger plane that was produced.

However, the aircraft was a casualty of the reduction to the A380 fleet by Singapore Airlines, with the jet registered as 9V-SKC entering storage just nine years later in November 2017.

After a period in storage, the aircraft was one of the only ones that found a new home in the form of the lacklustre second-hand market, registered in mid-2018 as 9H-MIP and beginning to fly with HFly Malta.

Unfortunately, HiFly’s operation with the world’s largest passenger plane would not turn out as intended, but rather be a complete disaster that would necessitate the removal of the jet.

Mystery Around The Aircraft Continues

With the suitors of a possible Airbus A380 acquisition remaining smaller, EFW confirmed in written statements that they represent a new owner of the Airbus A380, not Global Airlines, as some had rumoured.

Global Airlines is a start-up in the United Kingdom hoping to launch scheduled passenger services with the Airbus A380 and utilising the capacity of this jet to serve a worldwide network.

While there have been many doubters regarding the business model for this airline, it has powered ahead and is attempting to complete the necessary steps to launch. Crucial to that has been the acquisition of new aircraft.

Given that MSN006 had not been dismantled, it was a unit of interest to the operations of Global Airlines, but in the end. A deal that did not work out, instead being repositioned to Dresden, where it’ll provide a new solution to customers.

Aerotime’s analysis reveals that, through the UK Company House website, the sole director of PB Leasing Aircraft No. 9 serves as a crucial director of an Island Cruise company, as identified by aircraft registration details.

With no confirmation, speculation has intensified around aviation forums suggesting that the unit will play a pivotal role in the transportation of customers, not a traditional fare-paying service.

Ultimately, details remain scarce on the endeavour, with more information likely to emerge in due course as work is conducted to bring the aircraft, which has already been described as in good condition, up to the standard for continuous flying.
