Airbus has delivered 55 aircraft in September, following its latest orders and deliveries report.

As a result of the deliveries in September being declared, the yearly total now tallies 488 jets.

Airbus’ 2023 Targets

Airbus outlined its 2023 targets towards the backend of 2022, citing 720 deliveries as its ultimate goal for the calendar year.

With 488 jets delivered thus far, Airbus will be up against the odds, attempting to hit the target of 720. A total of 232 aircraft will need to be delivered to reach their end target over three months.

In 2022, the European plane maker delivered under 700 jets. This meant that despite the company’s late push, it could not achieve its 700 delivery target outlined.

Struggles Delivering Aircraft On Time

One of the biggest stumbling blocks for plane makers within the aviation industry is the continued pressure on supply chains.

Manufacturers have been scrambling to deliver planes on time. However, they continue to fall short, with customers expressing frustration over continued delays.

As a result the delays paired with issues internally, have resulted in the likes of Airbus continuously missing yearly targets.

Breakdown Of Airbus Deliveries & Orders

Airbus delivered 55 aircraft to 34 different customers during September 2023.

Notably, the A320neo family aircraft stole the show, with 44 of the 55 being from this family.

This included 1 A319neo, 23 A320neos and lastly 20 A321neos. The only other narrowbody delivered was for the A220-300 with four units.

Airbus says steady deliveries for widebodies with 5 A350-900s and 2 A330-900s.

Away from deliveries, Airbus recorded 23 gross orders during the month. 13 coming from LATAM for the A321 series and Turkish Airlines committing to 10 further A350-900s for future growth plans.
