As part of a commitment to reducing costs and exiting bankruptcy protection, SAS will retire their remaining 737s.
The airline says its final Boeing 737 service will be operated on the 19th of November, 2023.
Under flight number SK737, the flight will depart from Copenhagen before arriving in Oslo, which acts as the base for the aircraft.
Saying goodbye to the Boeing 737 is a landmark moment for SAS. This series has been hugely important to their long-term narrowbody operations through the decades.
The 737 was first introduced before 1990. Over time, this fleet continued to grow, with multiple variants in operation.
Based on current fleet data, the airline has 3 737-800s in operation and 5 737-700s. These will be phased out over the coming months before one lone unit is left.
Their active 737-700 fleet averages an age of 18.8 years, while the 737-800 averages an age of 11.2 years.
Ultimately, saying goodbye to the Boeing 737s is the right decision for the airline as it looks towards streamlining its fleet while introducing new fuel-efficient types to power its operations long into the future.
