Viva Aerobus Close To Huge Airbus Order

Per Reuters, as the 2023 Paris Airshow Day 1 begins, Viva Aerobus is reportedly eyeing a massive deal with Airbus for narrowbody aircraft.

Reports indicate a deal could consist of triple digits and complement their existing fleet of Airbus aircraft.

The airline currently flies 68 aircraft spread across multiple members of the A320 family. 21 A320-200s remain in service, paired with 18 of the A320neos.

The carrier flies 9 A321-200s and also met with the A321neo, where 20 are in active service. Viva Aerobus is thus a perfect example of an operator transitioning to newer equipment but still with the same manufacturer.

The A320neo and A321neo, therefore, will be the backbone of their future fleet for decades to come, and as such, a commitment to new Airbus narrowbody aircraft would accelerate the company’s growth plans.

Viva Aerobus operates exclusively with Airbus aircraft.

Per Cirium data, Viva Aerobus’ route with the highest frequency for May 2023 was its Monterrey to Mexico City service, followed closely by Mexico City to Cancun.
