Royal Jordanian has announced that it selected the Embraer E2 family as part of its fleet renewal and expansion plans for its short-haul fleet.
The airline will acquire four E190-E2s and two E195-E2s from Azorra on a lease contract. Azorra is a commercial aircraft lessor, providing leasing, financing and asset management to companies while focusing on regional operations.
Meanwhile, it also signed directly with Embraer for a further two E2s. At this stage, this contract with Embraer is simply an MoU with an eye to making it firm later down the line.
Royal Jordanian further adds that it will be expecting the addition of these Embraer jets towards the backend of the 2023 calendar year.
The airline currently has 24 aircraft in service, with the fleet averaging an age of 13 years. The fleet includes a host of Airbus narrowbody aircraft families, from the A319, A320 to the A321. For their long-haul fleet, they operate exclusively with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
