Porter Airlines continues its rapid expansion by launching its first service to Southwest Florida.

New Flights Begin

Porter launched service towards Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers earlier this week.

The daily flight will originate at Toronto Pearson International Airport and is part of continued efforts by the airline to expand its service.

Porter believes the launch of this destination follows a well-earned reputation across Canada and the United States.

The Embraer E195-E2 will operate on the route. This twin-engine, single-aisle jet has been hugely important to Porter Airlines in launching new services.

Porter’s Embraer jets are configured with 132 seats in an all-economy configuration. The ability to configure aircraft in a 2-2 layout, which removes the middle seat, is something Porter prides itself on.

Additionally, through additional costs, the airline can offer seats with extra legroom, mixed cocktails and healthy meals.

Comments From Executives

Canadians love Florida and they deserve to enjoy their travels  the moment they get on the plane. With Porter, every passenger receives the same level of hospitality and elevated service – travellers will notice the difference when they fly with us.  It’s a pleasure to bring our elevated economy experience to southwest Florida.

Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines

We want to extend Porter Airlines a warm welcome from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). Today, Porter inaugurates its first nonstop flight into Fort Myers from Toronto, Canada (YYZ), a popular destination for residents and visitors coming to Southwest Florida. This daily service will be a great new option for travelers to enjoy.

Ben Siegel, CPA, C.M., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority.

Porter’s new non-stop, daily service from Pearson to Fort Myers will offer 20,000 new departing seats this winter. We know the demand for travel to Florida is quite high, so having increased capacity and passenger choice is important to us.

The Porter Airlines Fleet

Porter Airlines fleet consists of two aircraft types, from the Dash 8 Q400 to the E195-E2.

The Canadian airline utilises these aircraft for a host of differing means. However, deploying the E195-E2 has thus far been crucial to the long-term vision.

Thanks to a rapid introduction of the series into the operations, Porter has aggressively launched new routes and announced others, too.

Among this route towards Southwest Florida, the airline will launch Los Angeles and San Francisco flights shortly with the E195-E2, truly highlighting its capabilities.
