Luxair, the flag carrier of Luxembourg, has announced it’ll increase its commitment to the popular Embraer E195-E2.
The latest commitment has seen the company announce it’ll take delivery of two more E195-E2s signed for on a firm contract rather than a letter of intent.
Luxair feels that the E2 series will be pivotal for its connectivity moving forward and will also play a pivotal role in complementing its larger narrowbody aircraft that remain on order.
The Luxembourg carrier feels the ability to see the two aircraft types complement each other, which will be huge for the future and continue to elevate itself, the country it calls home, and surrounding regions with enhanced connectivity.
Luxair says that the two aircraft being added to its backlog stems from the expertizing of options following a 2023 firm order that consisted of, at the time, just the four firm units; however, purchase options also existed.
As a result, the latest deal with Emrbaer will mean, in total, six E195-E2s will be coming through the airline’s doors. However, there’s equally more opportunity for the company to increase this commitment moving forward.
There are still three purchase rights remaining, with the opportunity to convert towards the more middle ground E190-E2, considered the modest alternative.
Luxair describes E2 as critical for its future flying and deems it an essential investment to balance the importance of growth and having a quieter and greener future.
From 2026, these planes will mark a new era for the company with unmatched passenger comfort, something Embraer prides its aircraft on having. The E195-E2 is a favourite among many airlines and is increasingly growing its backlog.
