Iraqi Airways is the operator of a lone Boeing 787 Dreamliner, part of their commitment to becoming more fuel efficient.
The aircraft was delivered only recently but has been grounded and remains out of service.
Iraqi Airplanes on Twitter reports the aircraft faced a malfunction that impacted the brake system directly of the 787-8 registered as YI-ATC.
As a result, it needs to be repaired and will cost a substantial amount of money. However, the repair is critical to getting the plane back into service.
The last tracked flight operated by YI-ATC was IA216 from Istanbul to Baghdad when it landed at 5:06 pm. It has since not flown and remained grounded.
YI-ATC was ferried from Charleston to Baghdad directly towards the end of June 2023, highlighting the aircraft’s newness.
