Emirates is suspending the Airbus A380 across service to London Gatwick in October and November 2026.

The schedule, which was filed this week and flagged by Aeroroutes, shows that in the fourth quarter, adjustments are being made to how the airline serves London Gatwick.

As part of the schedule changes, the A380 will be replaced on the three daily flights it serves between Dubai International and London Gatwick.

What Changes Is Emirates Making?

The first change will be across the airlines’ EK9/10 service between 1 October 2026 and 30 November 2026, where the 777-300ER will replace the A380.

EK11/12 will run between 25 October 2026 and 30 November 2026, see the Airbus A380 replaced by the Boeing 777-300ER.

A similar change will be seen across the airlines’ EK15/16 service, reverting to the EK9/10 schedule with nonstop service between 1 October 2026 and 30 November 2026. The 777-300ER will replace the world’s largest passenger plane.

The last flight, which operates daily, is the Emirates EK69/70 service, which remains unaffected as the airline deploys its new, state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 on this route.

With four daily flights to London Gatwick, this is just one part of the airline’s integral connectivity to the United Kingdom, one of the most important markets on Emirates’ network to date.

Emirates’ Airbus A380 Plans

Emirates’ Airbus A380 fleet continues to hover around 100 active units. At its peak, many more were flying; the model remains integral to the airline’s operations.

The Dubai-based carrier leverages its high capacity to serve some of the most in-demand cities from its home, but things are changing across the network.

Thanks to the addition of the A350, and soon to be the 777X and the 787, the airline’s A380 deployment will begin to evolve, with route planners seeking the best possible deployment of the jet.

Emirates is already in the process of retrofitting its A380 alongside its 777 fleets; this is a considerable investment and undertaking that involves bringing older jets up to the latest cabin standards of incoming jets.

With this in mind, the changes in deployment with inbound aircraft, Emirates will continue to operatethe A380 fleet into the 2030s and beyond, a likely retirement coming in the 2040s as the airline admits it’ll chart a course into the unknowns, not just likely being the last operator of the aircraft but flying it in excess of 20 years.
