Cathay Pacific has announced it will launch nonstop flights from Hong Kong to Riyadh, an exciting development for the airline.
The carrier says flights will begin to the capital of Saudi Arabia and the financial centre from October 28, 2024, in time for the season schedule shift.
Furthermore, the route is integral to connecting Hong Kong and Riyadh as part of a Belt and Road initiative. As outlined by China some time ago, this initiative primarily aims to increase trade and stimulate economic growth. The hope is to connect Asia with Africa, Europe, and more via land and maritime networks.
Cathay Pacific celebrated the new service launch in Hong Kong. The ceremony was attended by several leading executives from Saudi Arabia, Cathay Pacific, and delegates from the two locations.

Flights will be designated as CX647/648, with departure from Hong Kong scheduled for 1505 and a 2015 arrival into Riyadh. The return flight will depart Riyadh at 2215 and arrive in Hong Kong the following day at 1110. The carrier highlights flights will operate thrice weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Cathay Pacific will deploy its modern Airbus A350-900 to Riyadh, and this aircraft configuration will feature three cabin classes. The A350s will allow customers to experience the Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
Passenger service from Cathay Pacific to Riyadh will complement an existing Cathay Cargo weekly flight that also operates between Hong Kong and Riyadh.
Service commencing in Riyadh later this year represents another fundamental part of Cathay Pacific’s broad recovery from the global pandemic. Thanks to new deliveries and the reactivation of aircraft alongside returning demand, the carrier has been able to venture into new markets to boost connectivity and finances.
