Alaska Airlines is entering the next stage of its international expansion with new cities joining the network.

Beginning in Spring 2026, the carrier will commence flying from Seattle through to London and Reykjavik, marking the fourth and fifth new intercontinental destinations.

However, Alaska Airlines isn’t planning on stopping here with the ambition for Seattle to truly become a global hub serving 12 international destinations by 2030.

Daily year-round service will first be offered to London, the British capital, which is described as one of the most sought-after destinations and also features great leisure and business demand.

Utilising the Boeing 787, the Seattle to London segment will see enclosed business class suites and spacious economy class seats, which will cater to both demographics.

Additionally, as a gateway, London is the perfect point to feed traffic into European destinations and enable greater access from the West Coast through to London.

With Alaska Airlines having a strong relationship with many other airlines, the partner network will enable more opportunities moving forward for passengers, and the company hopes it will entice prospective ones to make the shift.

Alaska Airlines is pointing to Hawaiian Airlines, the carrier it took over and has made this global expansion possible, also now having greater connectivity options into London and beyond with the usage of the Boeing 787s.

More Change For Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines has also taken the opportunity to note that daily flying will be offered across the summer season to Reykjavik in Iceland.

The U.S. carrier is planning on using its 737-8, part of the 737 MAX family, for this route, which is designed to operate these kinds of distances.

Alaska Airlines points towards the bucket list items that can be found across Iceland that make it the perfect spot for adventure lovers on the West Coast to travel to, now more seamlessly than ever before on the airline’s network.

While further away than the newly announced London service, the carrier is still betting on this route being the perfect springboard for onward connectivity, thanks to its partnerships with other leading global airlines.

The newly announced cities join Rome as the three transatlantic markets which will be served from 2026 and beyond, with more likely to follow in due course as well.

With Seattle becoming a true global hub, the expected launch of many more services to cities is on the cards. Alaska Airlines is taking its time and not revealing any further hints about when specific cities will be announced.
