Air Premia is looking to grow considerably in 2025 as it plans to increase its fleet size with additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The South Korean-based carrier commenced operations in 2021 and uses Incheon as a hub. It is explicitly focused on being a hybrid airline.
As part of its business model, it focuses on having lower operating costs than larger full-service airlines while offering affordable ticket prices and not necessarily a lack of service aboard its aircraft.
The Boeing 787 has thus far been integral to the Air Premia fleet; this is the only fleet type currently in operation and powering its network worldwide.
Based on current fleet data, Air Premia has 5 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in service; all these are the 787-9, which average an age of some 4.8 years.
Now, Air Premia hopes to add as many as four Boeing 787-9s to its fleet, which it would acquire on a lease from Peach Walters.
If everything goes according to plan, the planes will be ready shortly. Deliveries will occur mostly in 2025, and the company plans to deploy the jets across its network.
Target markets include destinations in North and South America; however, it is also essential to place them in markets in Southeast Asia.
Generally, adding more Boeing 787 Dreamliners will ease pressure on the existing fleet and present more significant opportunities to fly into new cities or upgrade existing services.
The leasing market remains a fantastic option for airlines seeking to enhance their fleet relatively quickly instead of waiting for deliveries directly from the source, which in this case is Boeing.
However, some pressures are being felt as more airlines head towards the leasing market. These leasing companies are being forced to scramble to acquire units amid supply chain issues, which means that Airbus and Boeing cannot deliver jets on time, complicating matters further.
