An Air India Airbus A350-900

Air India is continuing to build momentum for the future by officially deploying its Airbus A350 towards London Heathrow.

The A350-900, the airline’s latest flagship, is seen across vital domestic markets such as Delhi and Mumbai, alongside Dubai and flights to London, representing another crucial next step.

While the airline will offer double daily flights from Delhi to London Heathrow, more importantly, the use of the A350 will allow customers to experience the new Air India.

This new era follows Tata Group’s purchase from the Indian government and the subsequent billions that have already been injected into the brand.

Tata Group has prioritised purchasing new aircraft, a new brand image, and a new livery alongside other initiatives such as airport lounges, loyalty programs, cabin products, and more.

The ambition is clear: to make Air India a world-class airline widely respected and regarded as India’s national carrier, which, while it will always remain with that title, hasn’t been respected on a global scale and certainly not within India either.

The addition of the A350 specifically to Heathrow will bump up capacity each week with onward connectivity options for customers available across India as well on their domestic service.

Heathrow has been a key focal point for the deployment of the next era of cabin products, with also Boeing 777-300ERs featuring their own upgraded cabin interiors in the location.

Air India is betting that these investments, along with the implementation of new high standards, will be incredibly important in allowing the airline to turn its perception and fortunes around.

For as long as can be remembered, the company was bleeding money with no end, and the losses mounted. However, under new ownership and subsequent leadership, analysts believe that an uphill battle for the first time, Air India, is on track.

While much focus is placed on the onboard experience, Air India must also invest in technologies to ensure customer satisfaction levels inside airports and beyond are of the highest standard, analysts argue.

As a result, this endeavour has become one of the most extensive turnaround plans in recent times and comes with associated risks. Unfortunately, no one can confirm this will pan out as intended but all involved need to stick to the course to give them the best chance possible.
