Delta Air Lines is moving forward with the launch of service between Atlanta and Riyadh on 23 October 2026 aboard its next-generation Airbus A350-900.
As part of this new route, Delta is creating its first direct service to Saudi Arabia and the first nonstop link between Riyadh and the United States operated by a U.S. airline.
For Delta, the launch gives it a foothold into a fast-growing market on multiple fronts, especially aviation, with strong ambitions for the next decade.
Riyadh has become central to Saudi Arabia’s economic strategy. It benefits not just from tourism but also from business ties across the United States and the Middle East.
The Kingdom has committed heavily to investment in tourism, infrastructure, entertainment, and other services, including the launch of Riyadh Air to help support the Kingdom’s projected growth in international air travel.
Delta confirms Atlanta–Riyadh schedule
Delta will operate the new Atlanta-Riyadh route daily from 23 to 30 October 2026 before transitioning to three weekly flights after the initial launch period concludes.
The U.S. carrier intends to deploy its Airbus A350-900 between the two locations with four cabin classes on offer: Delta One, Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and the Main Cabin. Premium revenue to cities in the Middle East can also offer significant revenue potential for airlines.
Delta’s selection of the A350-900 is a logical choice as it builds out its widebody fleet and awaits the arrival of the A350-1000 flagship and the recently ordered Boeing 787 Dreamliners. For now, the A350’s range enables the two markets to be linked, and a more premium-weighted cabin has been specifically selected.

Atlanta was central to Delta’s assessment of the route’s commercial viability because of the hub’s extensive network. The U.S. carrier not just intends to operate this route, but more broadly, the chance to offer flights to Riyadh will enable easier access from its hub, with one-stop itineraries possible instead of requiring a layover in Europe or another Middle Eastern destination.
But why will Delta launch Riyadh flights?
Delta’s commitment to Riyadh arrives at a prime time for Saudi Arabia’s aviation industry as overall links and inbound visits grow with the launch of not just Riyadh Air but further investments in the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia is seeking to position Riyadh as a regional hub for conferences, events, tourism, and business. Therefore, Delta adds another high-profile international airline to Riyadh’s growing network and aligns with the broader strategy.
The U.S. carrier can not only enter a market historically dominated by Gulf and European carriers with this route, but also ensure that customers heading onwards to other Saudi or Middle Eastern destinations can experience a more seamless travel journey.
Delta says the link will give government institutions and Riyadh’s financial district a direct option to the United States, this having been much needed and highly touted. Long-term, the view is that Riyadh flights can attract more international companies and investment, alongside trade ties.
