Embraer has confirmed yet another purchase as part of a busy two weeks for its commercial aircraft division.

LATAM and its affiliates confirmed that they had entered an agreement with the Brazilian planemaker to support future growth with new planes.

The new deal includes the possible acquisition of up to 74 aircraft with the planemaker, and the E195-E2 has been selected to power the fleet moving forward with this investment.

As part of the deal, LATAM says that the agreement includes 24 firm deliveries, but with options available for 50 further units should the business wish to activate these at a later date.

Embraer will begin delivering the firm part of the aircraft order in the second half of 2026, highlighting the quick turnaround that is possible with a program such as the E2, unlike Airbus or Boeing.

The first deliveries are expected to head towards LATAM Airlines Brazil; however, as more aircraft begin being prepared and the business analyses its needs, there could be room for aircraft to join other LATAM Group affiliates.

With a key objective of strengthening overall domestic and regional operations, LATAM sees the Embraer E2 program as perfect for enhancing profits and building a more robust and efficient operation across these markets.

LATAM group’s decision is based on the excellent economics and versatility of the Embraer E195-E2, which will allow us to continue on our path of profitable growth by enhancing that connectivity through the opening of new destinations, allowing our passengers to have even more options and bringing communities closer, boosting also economic and social development.

The aircraft is expected to significantly boost the hubs across the LATAM Group while also allowing the possibility of new route launches with expanded reach and more aircraft becoming available.

Embraer says it’s pleased with the deal and that it gets to support LATAM affiliates in the next chapter of their growth across South America, knowing that the right decision was made with the E2’s capacity, range and comfort for these types of routes.

A Busy Week For Embraer

The deal from LATAM for up to 74 aircraft comes just under two weeks after another sizeable contract was confirmed from US carrier Avelo Airlines.

Avelo Airlines confirmed it would purchase up to 100 aircraft, with the split down the middle equating to 50 firm units and 50 options in a landmark contract for the planemaker with the United States.

Avelo will become the first airline in the United States to operate the high-capacity E2 program, a sign of what the planemaker hopes to achieve moving forward with a greater ability to access the North American market, which is already somewhat present through Canada.

The new purchases from Avelo Airlines will begin being delivered in the second half of 2027, and much like the latest contract signed by LATAM, highlights the quick turnaround that’s possible through the purchase of Embraer aircraft over planes from the larger planemakers.

These larger planemakers, whose backlogs are incredibly strong, also face the problem that production rates are not high enough to work through the demand that is present for their commercial aircraft.
