SWISS has announced plans to offer a historic new service to Seoul in South Korea for the first time in company history.
Behind The New Route
SWISS says the route will commence on 7 May 2024 and originate in Zurich before making the trek to Seoul.
The service will be operated thrice weekly with the Airbus A340, a quad-engined beast selected to perform the historic new connection for the airline.
SWISS has designated LX122/123 as the flight numbers for the service departing from Zurich on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Departure from Seoul is expected at 0825, with arrival into Seoul the following morning at 0825 after what is described as an almost 12-hour flight, coming in at 11 hours and 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, the return flight from Seoul departs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, departing at 0955 and arriving back in Zurich at 1650 the same day. All times are local to their respective cities.
A Historic Moment For SWISS
Adding Seoul to the airline’s long-haul network is seen as a fantastic expansion that was long overdue. It goes alongside previously announced Washington, DC, and Toronto services that venture West, Seoul being an expansion of service towards the East.
The first-ever service to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, will depart in time for the Summer of 2024. The company highlights the city’s traditional and modern charm and the country’s broader appeal.
Seoul has the potential for SWISS to entice several types of travellers; however, while leisure travellers will be the focus, the route is also geared towards business travel. South Korea is the fourth-biggest trading partner with Switzerland, and thus, a connection between Seoul and Zurich with the airline should benefit this further.
SWISS adds that this is now available for those interested in booking the service.
Comments From SWISS CCO
We are delighted to be further growing our network. As well as our new long-haul destinations of Washington, DC and Toronto, which we’ve already announced, we’ll be adding the extremely attractive destination of Seoul to our Asian network in summer 2024. The capital of South Korea has a lot to offer leisure and business travellers alike. And our new Seoul service will help us even better meet our customers’ needs for non-stop services to and from the world’s key cities.SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Heike Birlenbach.
