Lufthansa is launching temporary new flights with its Airbus A350 from Munich Airport (MUC) at the beginning of 2027 as part of continued capacity reshuffling.
According to schedules published by aeroroutes, the airline will offer more flights to Bengaluru and Johannesburg during the first quarter of next year, but these increases are not permanent.
Lufthansa raises Bengaluru to daily
The first change Lufthansa intends to make with the Airbus A350-900 will take effect on 1 January 2027, when the German flag-carrier increases its Munich–Bengaluru (BLR) flights from five times a week to seven.
The increased capacity will run through to 13 February 2027, providing a month and a half of additional connectivity to the Indian city and the broader country, which has seen rapid increases in travel demand.
Lufthansa will see LH764 depart Munich at 1210 and arrive in Bengaluru at 0100 the following day (all times local). The return service, LH765, departs at 0250 bound for Munich, arriving at 0810. The early-morning arrival back in Munich is ideal for onward connections across Lufthansa’s short- to medium-haul network.
Bengaluru’s importance on Lufthansa’s route map has increased tenfold over the years, as the city has become vital to India’s technology and business markets. The additional frequencies will give passengers more same-day options from Munich.
South Africa also gets more flights in 2027
Lufthansa, like Virgin Atlantic, has reshuffled its utilisation of the Boeing 787 in early 2027 and will send more of its Airbus A350s to Johannesburg from Munich.
As part of the next schedule change, the five weekly flights from 5 January 2027 will increase to six. The shift is more modest than in Bengaluru, but it still adds another service, with more flights through 13 February 2027, including one brief frequency change during this period.

Although Lufthansa intends to offer six flights a week from early January through mid-February, schedules show the flight will peak at seven a week, or daily temporarily, from 22 January through 5 February before returning to six a week.
LH578 departs Munich at 2215 and arrives the following morning in Johannesburg at 0955. Returning as LH579, the A350-900 will spend most of the day in Johannesburg before departing at 1955 and arriving at 0525 the following morning in Munich.
As with the established Bengaluru schedule, the early-morning return arrival in Munich is optimally timed to support onward connectivity across the regional, domestic, and short-haul network Lufthansa has established, and through Group partners.
