Japan Airlines has announced plans to launch a service to Doha from Tokyo Haneda in 2024.

A Landmark Moment For Japan Airlines

In a release, the carrier highlights the first direct flight to the Middle East by a Japanese airline.

Service is expected to commence from Tokyo Haneda on March 31, 2024. Meanwhile, tickets for the busy 2024 summer schedule are on sale now.

JL59 will depart from Haneda at 2250 and arrive in Doha the following morning at 0440. JL50 will depart Doha at 0715, arriving just before midnight the same day at 2355.

Japan Airlines says the flight will be daily and be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner configured with Business Class and Economy Class.

Using Oneworld Partner Qatar Airways To Its Advantage

Japan Airlines says its partnership with Qatar Airways has and will continue to substantially aid its customers for onward travel to critical markets.

The two airlines are part of the Oneworld alliance, and thus, from Doha, connections to Africa, South America, and Europe will be possible, as well as further destinations in the Middle East.

Japan Airlines believes Doha is placed strategically to offer smooth travel. Additionally, it can allow customers to explore Qatar’s wealthy capital, which offers modern facilities, infrastructure and a diverse culture.

Doha Service Optimised For Connections

As part of a commitment to offering customers more choices, Japan Airlines has highlighted in its news release the benefits of the Tokyo-Haneda to Doha connection.

The airline says that if flying between Haneda and Riyadh utilising onward travel with Qatar Airways, travel time via Doha has been reduced by 9 hours and 40 minutes, as the previous connection would have had to occur in London.

Meanwhile, the most significant reduction is seen with Haneda to Johannesburg. The airline says it has cut 12 hours and 30 minutes off travel time thanks to the Doha connection.

Ultimately, several other routes have also seen reductions in total travel time thanks to the new connection by JAL.
