ITA Airways Welcomes First Airbus A220-100

ITA has taken delivery of its first Airbus A220-100. Delivery is part of a continued process to revamp its fleet and move towards next-generation aircraft.

A Commitment To The A220-100

Delivery of the first A220-100 occurred thanks to a long 8-hour journey between Montreal Mirabel and Rome.

This is the first Airbus A220-100 that has joined the ITA Airways fleet. It is registered as EI-HXA.

The A220 Importance Grows

The importance of the A220 fleet continues to grow with time. In late August, the airline acquired its first A220, the -300 variant.

The A220 will allow the Company to enhance its domestic and
international network and represents a further step in our strategy of building a new fuel efficient and more sustainable fleet with leading-edge technologies which will optimize efficiency, quality of service and
significantly reduce the airline carbon footprint. With the arrival of the Airbus A321neo by the end of this year, the ITA Airways fleet will include all the latest generation Airbus aircraft families. I would like to thank all the team involved in the project for their commitment towards this prestigious, coveted, and challenging achievement.

ITA Airways noted that its A220-300s were equipped with the latest technologies, including Wi-Fi connectivity and an interactive 2D map. The company hopes these features will enhance customer experience onboard their planes.

The ITA Airways Fleet

ITA Airways now has a fleet of 83 in-service aircraft spread across multiple aircraft types.

Notably, the airline already has 7 Airbus A220-300s in service per Cirium data.

As part of a commitment to the A320ceo family, the airline has 16 A319-100s in service, which work alongside 25 A320-200s.

Its commitment to the A320neo family, though, is also ever present with the A320neo and A321neo both in the company’s plans.

However, the airline expects its first A321neo to arrive before year’s end and already has 13 in-service A320neo aircraft.
