ITA Airways First Blue Airbus A220 Delivered

ITA Airways has welcomed the delivery of its first Airbus A220 to wear the blue livery.

The A220-300 saw a delivery ceremony in Mirabel, Canada, before the aircraft officially joined the ITA Airways fleet for future flying.

The A220-300 has been named Alessandro Mazzola, after an Italian football legend and is configured with ITA Airways’ updated cabin design that features new interiors, too.

The A220 will allow the Company to enhance its domestic and
international network and represents a further step in our strategy of building a new fuel efficient and more
sustainable fleet with leading-edge technologies which will optimize efficiency, quality of service and
significantly reduce the airline carbon footprint. With the arrival of the Airbus A321neo by the end of this year,
the ITA Airways fleet will include all the latest generation Airbus aircraft families. I would like to thank all the
team involved in the project for their commitment towards this prestigious, coveted, and challenging
achievement.

Francesco Presicce, Chief Technology Officer and
Accountable Manager ITA Airways.

The A220-300 comes equipped with an onboard product ITA is massively proud of. This includes Wi-Fi connectivity, which customers can purchase through varying packages. While in addition, there is an interactive 2D map.

ITA says that acquiring further A220s is part of their goal of becoming more efficient and expanding as a carrier. The A220 delivers a reported 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat compared to what would previously fly on the route. It is in line with the sustainability plan unveiled by ITA Airways.

As part of the sustainability plan, ITA Airways says it’ll have a fleet that includes 90% of next-generation aircraft with increased fuel efficiency.

ITA Airways has a fleet of 78 in-service aircraft, with its most significant fleet type being the A320-200, followed closely by the A319-100.
