An ITA Airways Airbus A321neo departs during its test flights

ITA Airways is gearing up for the 2024/25 winter season by launching a connection between Rome Fiumicino and Dubai.

The route is expected to operate daily from October 27, 2024. Furthermore, the President of ITA Airways is describing it as a step forward in the company’s growth plans.

ITA says it’ll use an Airbus A321neo to connect the locations. The Airbus A321neo has 20% lower fuel consumption than previous aircraft. ITA Airways configures its A321neos to seat three classes: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, including some Comfort Economy seats.

Furthermore, the Airbus A321neo has XL overhead bins to ensure maximum storage space in the Airspace Cabin. It also has the latest generation of seats, new colours and materials, and an entertainment system in each seat.

The service will depart Rome at 1040 and arrive in Dubai at 1950. The return leg will depart the following morning at 0150 and arrive in Rome at 0600. These times are local.

ITA Airways says the route will be hugely important in connecting point-to-point traffic. However, it’ll also enable customers to connect to domestic or international destinations from Rome.

The Italian airline that replaced Altialia isn’t looking to target one type of traveller but believes that given Dubai’s hub for leisure and business, it’ll attract both.

Looking At ITA Airways In 2024

ITA Airways has enjoyed a positive first four months of the 2024 calendar year, per the airline’s President. The results were above what was expected, with a 29% increase year over year in passenger numbers. The airline says it was able to transport 5 million passengers.

Additionally, there was visible growth in the total revenue, equating to a 38% rise. ITA attributes the intercontinental sector, which saw revenue growth of over 50%. Furthermore, there were substantial improvements in the company’s load factor, with peaks of 82% in some markets.

Data indicated that the upcoming summer season will be solid, with a 25% increase in the number of passengers carried. For the first four months of this year, the airline also saw a 5% on-time arrival within 55% and 99.9% regularity in its operations.

The year has also seen several important aircraft deliveries, which have meant the airline has been able to increase its network, improve efficiency, and plan for the future.
