Finnair is making changes to its flying, boosting A350 services for the Northern Summer 2026 schedule.

Flagged by aeroroutes.com, the carrier will first increase service on its triangular route from Helsinki through to Kansai.

Finnair will increase its frequency on this route, with the previous daily operation becoming three more flights a week, bringing the service to 10 flights a week from 30 June 2026.

Flight AY69/67 and Flight AY70/68 will do the honours. This is an important segment for the Finnish carrier in its Westbound operations, which have become more complicated in recent years following the conflict over Russia and Ukraine, impacting airspace.

All services will be operated by the airline’s flagship and largest product, the A350-900, but it won’t be the only service adjustment planned for the Northern Summer 2026 schedule.

Finnair’s Other Route Change

Moving to the other side of the world, Finnair will also increase its international flying to the United States, with Los Angeles receiving an extra weekly flight, which will be bumped up by another just two months later.

The gradual capacity increase will commence on 4 May 2026, when the three weekly flights will jump to four. From 5 July 2026, the airline will once again add another weekly flight, bringing the total to five.

AY1 will depart Helsinki at 1605, arriving in Los Angeles at 1710; the two additional flights will depart on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The return flight AY2 departs at 1850 and arrives the following day in Helsinki at 1525.

These exciting announcements regarding A350 flight increases also come just a matter of weeks after the company confirmed it would launch daily service to Australia, specifically Melbourne.

The surprise announcement at the time was not predicted by many; however, it comes as the airline has outlined its intent to become an airline known for bridging the gap between the northern and southern hemispheres.

Finair will launch service to Melbourne on 25 October 2026. While the route is still subject to regulatory approval, it remains bookable for passengers eager to jump aboard the oneworld carrier’s services.
