Finnair has announced a big expansion of service for 2024 and 2025 with growth to Japan, the United States and several other markets.

Finnair has announced a sizeable expansion to its upcoming 2024 winter season and 2025 summer schedule as it plans to cater to demand and plan significantly.

As part of the newly announced expansion, the airline says it’ll add services to Japan for the Summer 2025 programme, with additional flights to several locations.

In the summer of 2025, the ambition will be to offer daily flights to Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita. Finnair notes that Nagoya will also get a third weekly frequency.

Finnair has experienced solid growth across its network; however, it has seen noticeable improvement towards Japan and is responding to that growth with more frequencies, resulting in better connectivity.

Away from Japan, the airline says it’ll boost services to the United States during its 2024 winter programme. As part of the winter schedule, the airline will offer Dallas services year-round with daily flights.

Finnair is leveraging Oneworld partner American Airlines’ hub of Dallas specifically to facilitate onward connectivity across the extensive network from the major U.S. airline. Finnair believes the year-round service towards Dallas will significantly enhance customers’ travel options.

A new destination in Northern Norway will be added from the Summer 2025 season. The town of Kirkneses will see service from Helsinki and via Ivalo thrice weekly. Finnair will use the 68-seater ATR aircraft and cater to several different types of travellers.

We are delighted to introduce a destination that further strengthens our already extensive network in the Arctic region. The new route enables a smooth connection for customers travelling up to Northern Norway, making it fast and easy to reach the destination from Helsinki.

Ole Orvér, Chief Commercial Officer at Finnair.

The carrier says that Finnish people will be able to explore more of Northern Norway, take a cruise, and generally enjoy the location’s benefits, which will also benefit International travellers.

Several other locations in the Baltics are set to see additional frequencies in time for the Summer 2025 season. Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius will all see additional weekly frequencies.

Finnair notes that all adjusted services are now available for booking on their website as they continue to work on offering the best possible schedule for their customers.

Additionally, the airline says that the 2024 winter season runs from 27 October 2024 through 29 March 2025, and the summer season for 2025 runs from 30 March 2025 through 25 October 2025.
