From 2025 onwards, Etihad Airways will not be the first airline to boost flights with the largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier will begin flying the A380 to Singapore on 1 February 2025, and the Residence will now be available between the airline’s home and the popular Asian location.
By deploying the Airbus A380 to Singapore Changi, the carrier will make Singapore Changi the fourth location to experience the A380, with the aircraft already deployed to London and New York.
Etihad Airways previously announced that starting on 1 November 2024, it will begin using the A380 on service to Paris Charles de Gaulle.
To facilitate flying between Abu Dhabi and Singapore Changi, Etihad Airways has confirmed the reactivation of its sixth A380 is scheduled for the start of 2025.
For Etihad Airways, the reactivation of the Airbus A380 represents a significant shift from its stance during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
During these tough times, the company believed the A380 no longer had a place within its fleet and intended to keep it grounded permanently.
Ultimately, however, these plans couldn’t continue as not only were new aircraft delayed, but the Airbus A380 presented Etihad Airways with a sizeable opportunity to respond to growing demand across several markets.
The Airbus A380 is renowned as a huge favourite among travellers, and Etihad Airways continues to recognise this as it carefully deploys the aircraft to markets to enhance the interior experience.
While the airline focuses on a fantastic experience across all cabins, the focus certainly rests on The Residence. This apartment-like space has aimed to redefine what it means to fly upper class. This cabin product is specifically possible thanks to the space on the Airbus A380, which is not seen on any other aircraft.
Etihad Also Boosts Thailand Flying
Similar to announcing the Airbus A380 would be deployed to Singapore in early 2025, Etihad Airways also confirmed it’d boost flying to Thailand.
From 27 October 2024, the airline will offer 41 flights per week, with thrice-daily flights to Bangkok now offering greater flexibility and connectivity options for onward travel.
Away from Bangkok, Etihad says it’ll offer 20 flights per week to Phuket, which Etihad Airways cites as an important location for its beaches and cultural heritage landmarks.
