Etihad Airways has made history with its highly anticipated route expansion announcement, revealed as part of its growth targets.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline had been teasing the announcement of ten new routes for over a week, hinting that 2025 was expected to be an important year for new markets to join the ever-growing global route network.
The carrier is growing its global destination portfolio with ten new locations, bringing the total to over 90 in a historic expansion.
These routes are slated to start in 2025, and the airline confirms that it fulfils a promise to provide guests with a route map that is not just an industry leader but also caters to the requirements it sees daily.
Furthermore, Etihad Airways is emphasizing its responsibility to help grow Abu Dhabi into a destination renowned for its hospitality, a place people want to visit as a business and tourism hub.
The new routes will be launched with aircraft types ranging from next-generation widebodies such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 to the newly delivered A321LR.
The acquisition of the A321LR gives the company a greater opportunity to serve smaller markets that may still be some distance away but may not require the same capacity as major international markets.

All these expansion efforts align with Journey 2030, positioning Etihad Airways to dramatically increase its fleet, routes and employee base over the coming years to reflect growing demand.
New Destinations By Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways has announced the following locations to be served by its aircraft in 2025. These new locations will complement the existing locations slated to commence next year.
Etihad Airways will commence flying to Algiers, the capital of Algeria. This popular travel destination is known for its architecture and other attractions.
Atlanta will also be a major metropolis, and its key hospitality and popularity merit greater connectivity to the Middle East, which will now be offered.
Meanwhile, Chiang Mai in northern Thailand is known as the cultural heart of the country, with ancient temples and vibrant nightlife for travellers.
Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, will also be added as part of the continued enhancement of flying towards Asia as demand grows.
Hong Kong offers services, markets, a rich culinary scene, and important leisure and business traffic that can be captured by international airlines.
Next, in southern Thailand, Krabi will also be offered. Etihad says it is famous for its beaches and outdoor activities and is known as the home of adventure.
Medan, Indonesia, will join the network in 2025. The location offers diversity from a cultural standpoint, alongside much more, such as a world-renowned food scene.
Asia continues to see increased connectivity, with Phnom Penh launching service, and the capital of Cambodia will see enhanced connectivity to and from Abu Dhabi in 2025.
Taipei will be the second-to-last location added to the network next year. Its modern skyline sees significant tourism and business traffic daily.
Lastly, Tunisia’s capital will also be added as a World Heritage Site, offering great opportunities to learn about ancient history.
