Etihad Airways has announced a record-breaking profit and yearly performance as the airline continues to rebuild and grow.
The company reported an AED 1.7 billion (USD 476 million) profit in 2024, marking its third consecutive year of profitability and a profit after tax three times that of 2023.
Etihad’s performance is considerable when accounting for the turnaround efforts to recover from the billions of dollars lost throughout the latter stages of the 2010s.
For the full year 2024, Etihad Airways says that it carried 18.5 million passengers, an increase of 32% from the prior year and allowed for USD 5.7 billion in passenger revenue.
Available seat kilometres (ASK) also increased by 28%, supporting overall increases in passenger numbers, among many more. The passenger load factor grew by one percentage point to an average of 87% during the 12 months.
Total revenue also grew by 25% to USD 6.9 billion; Etihad says these revenues were possible thanks to record performance in its passenger and cargo divisions.
With over 1,700 weekly flights and frequency increases across 25 routes in the past two years, the airline has been focused on expanding its day-to-day flying and ensuring more locations are featured on the route map moving forward.
These plans align with Journey 2030 ambitions, which aim to expand the carrier’s route network, fleet, and overall employee group to meet demand and solidify the company’s position as an industry leader in the future.

While much focus was placed on finances and metrics, substantial investments were made into improving the airline’s overall day-to-day operation and thus enhancing customers’ experiences.
Etihad Airways says its investments have increased operational performance and service satisfaction.
Endeavours, such as an AED 3 billion retrofit program, among many others, to elevate the cabin product are part of the company’s long-term future to ensure that the product aligns with competitors and represents what Etihad hopes to offer its customers moving forward.
Looking Ahead At Etihad Airways
2025 represents another year of improvement and growth for Etihad Airways, with the anticipated arrival of further units to meet demand and renewal efforts.
Moreover, Etihad Airways has already announced several new locations that will be added to the route map over the next 10 months, and service increases are also in the works.
Further increases will likely be planned as the Abu Dhabi-based carrier analyses markets that deserve enhanced capacity.
Those increases and additional route launches will be made possible by the continued arrival of new aircraft, which has associated challenges driven by supply chain woes at Airbus and Boeing.
