Etihad Airways Announces Huge Expansion

Etihad Airways has announced what it describes as a sizzling summer schedule for 2024.

The airline will launch brand new flights, increase frequency to destinations and much more, all to cater to growing demand.

Understanding The Summer 2024 Schedule

Etihad Airways says that the ambitious boost in flights from Abu Dhabi reflects a sizeable increase in demand over the years prior.

During the Summer 2024 season, Etihad global reach will increase with almost 25% more weekly departures over the 2023 summer season.

New routes and frequency increases have been timed to benefit customers as much as possible, with smooth transfers and codeshare partnerships in place at end destinations.

Breaking Down The Etihad Airways Schedule

Etihad Airways plans to launch some new services from Abu Dhabi with Santorini and Nice.

Santorini in Greece will operate twice weekly flights on June 15, 2024. Meanwhile, the popular French city of Nice will see a twice-weekly service begin on the same day as Santorini, June 15, 2024.

Additionally, Colombo will see services increase from January 15, 2024, to 10 flights per week, representing three additional flights a week. However, from May 1, 2024, this will increase to four flights, bringing 14 per week.

Bangkok will increase by three flights a week from February 22, 2024. Therefore, Etihad says it’ll offer 17 flights per week to Thailand.

St Petersburg and Copenhagen have been extended to year-round services from March 31, 2024. The airline will serve the cities twice weekly and four times weekly, respectively.

Athens will, in 2024, see two frequency increases. Initially, Etihad will add five weekly flights for 12 from May 1, 2024. However, there’ll be a further increase from July 15, 2024, with two additional weekly services bringing the total to 14.

Malaga will begin operating as a thrice-weekly summer service on June 2, 2024. At the same time, Mykonos will also run twice weekly from June 17, 2024, as a dedicated summer service for 2024.

Previously Announced New Routes

Etihad Airways had previously announced new routes, including the addition of four new destinations from 2024.

The company will launch service to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram from January 1, 2024. These two new flights will operate daily.

Additionally, Boston will be added to the Etihad Airways network from March 31, 2024, with a four-times-weekly service.

As part of Etihad’s previously revealed expansion, the airline will serve Nairobi with daily flights from May 1, 2024.
