Emirates has announced it’ll return to Nigeria from October 1 with daily service between Dubai International and Lagos.
The airline says its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER jets will operate as part of a commitment to increasing services across Africa. Additionally, much focus rests on offering greater connectivity to and from Nigeria.
EK783 is scheduled to depart Dubai at 0945 and arrive in Lagos at 1520. After several hours on the ground in Lagos, the return flight will depart at 1730 and arrive back in Dubai at 0510 the next day.
The Boeing 777-300ER selected will feature 8 First Class suites, 42 seats in Business Class and 304 seats across Economy Class. Thus, this 777 is configured in three classes.
Once service resumes at the beginning of October, Emirates will offer flights to 19 different African gateways, resulting in 157 weekly flights.
We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. The Lagos-Dubai service has traditionally been popular with customers in Nigeria and we hope to reconnect leisure and business travellers to Dubai and onwards to our network of over 140 destinations. We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route and we look forward to welcoming passengers back onboard.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer
However, thanks to codeshare partnerships, the airline will see regional connectivity across Africa increase to 130 locations. Emirates has been heavily focused on developing relationships and forging new ones internally recently.
Emirates’ 2023/24 financial report highlighted the company’s ability to strengthen airline connections. Ultimately, developing these partnerships benefits all parties involved, especially airline customers.
Emirates further highlights the importance of service recommencement to Lagos in Nigeria thanks to trade relationships developed over recent years.
For Emirates SkyCargo, the resumption of daily services will also bolster the freight element of the business with the ability to offer more than 300 tonnes in the belly of the jets each week on Boeing 777 jets.
