Discover Airlines has announced an expansion to its 2024/25 winter schedule, with new additions set to join the route network

New Routes Announced

From December 16, 2024, to March 27, 2025, Discover Airlines announced it’ll begin flying to Alta Airport (ALF) in Northern Norway.

This flight will be operated twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, with the journey taking three and a half hours. Notably, the flight will depart from Frankfurt, which Discover says makes them the only airline offering direct service from Germany.

A location known as the City of the Northern Lights, Discover Airlines believes this newly announced service will offer customers fantastic Arctic adventures, amongst much more.

Additionally, the airline says it’ll begin service to Kittilä Airport (KTT) from December 20, 2024, through March 28, 2025, from Frankfurt.

These flights will be operated only once a week on Fridays, with the remote location now accessible. Kittilä Airport is located some 200 kilometres from the Artic Circle and thus is also one of the most popular tourist regions.

Strong Growth

The launch of two new services directly responds to the strong growing demand Discover Airlines is seeing for direct connections towards this region.

Discover Airlines believes its integration within the Lufthansa Group will mean European travellers reach these new destinations more quickly.

The carrier now operates 24 in-service aircraft spread across the A320 and A330 families. A total of 11 A320-200s are actively flying with an average age of 7.5 years.

Meanwhile, 3 Airbus A330-200s are averaging 19.2 years and 10 A330-300s at 17.4 years. Thus, at this point, the Disvover Airlines fleet is by no means young.

However, Lufthansa Group has substantial investments in future next-generation aircraft deployed across several airlines.
