Delta is increasing its flying towards Brazil on a seasonal basis with the resumption of daily service between New York JFK and Rio de Janeiro.

The Major U.S. carrier says that starting December 20, it’ll reconnect the two incredibly vibrant cities to meet the increasing levels of demand that are being seen and make this route resumption necessary.

Delta says the aircraft will operate until 27 March 2025, with the route formally underway on 20 December 2024, in time for the holidays.

The 767-300ER will also operate the route. These planes are configured to seat 215 passengers and come equipped with Delta One, which has 25 spacious seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.

Moreover, moving down the cabin, Delta Premium Select has 18 wider seats and additional recline than the main cabin. Next, Delta Comfort+ has 21 seats offering dedicated overhead bin space, which the carrier describes as a seat you’d prefer to sit in if you’re in the main cabin.

Finally, in the plane’s bag and acting as the main cabin, there are 151 seats in Economy class, making up the bulk of the seating on this Boeing 767, a true workhorse for the company.

Delta also describes route resumption as crucial, considering both countries will now see enhanced connectivity. The launch ties in with the Southern Hemisphere’s summer to ensure that people travelling for vacation in both directions can do so in the best manner possible.

Partnership with LATAM allows Rio de Janeiro to connect further to important locations across South America. Moreover, Delta knows its new flights will ensure greater connections from the Big Apple with existing flights to Sao Paulo.

Brazil remains an important focal point for Delta, and alongside LATAM, some 11,000 flights have already been operated together as part of the partnership, with more than 2 million passengers carried.

To conclude, the service will operate as DL28/29 with daily departure from New York JFK at 1959 and 0800 arrivals into Rio de Janeiro the next day. Lastly, the service will depart Rio de Janeiro at 2255 with a 0700 arrival back into New York JFK.
