Airbus has secured another new commercial aircraft order, featuring its mid-sized widebody, the A330neo.
Condor, a German carrier, is continuing its growth strategy ambitions, confirming the purchase of additional A330neo aircraft to enhance its medium-haul operations.
The latest contract will see Condor order four more Airbus A330-900 jets, which is the standout variant in the program; the smaller option, the A330-800, continues to struggle to garner any firm interest.
While a firm deal for four of the A330neos has been confirmed, options for a further four A330neos are also available, should the company wish to exercise these at a later date.
These new aircraft will bring the total fleet to 25 of these long-range, mid-sized widebodies and will be delivered over two years between 2029 and 2031.
The Supervisory Board of Condor has approved the deal, which will see the airline’s commitment to the A330neo increase by 2031, with more efficient aircraft than initially planned.
The brand-new Airbus A330neo will help Condor expand its long-haul flying routes, with this mid-sized widebody powering them.

Condor said that its fleet renewal efforts were completed in 2024; however, this latest purchase shows that there are further opportunities to grow in the coming years and expand long-haul routes.
The German carrier stated that it has witnessed strong demand across many locations, and customer response to the Airbus A330neo has been solid, making a new purchase a realistic option to elevate its market share further.
New opportunities will continue to drive the success of international business and build upon the recent successes enjoyed. The CEO of Condor confirmed that the summer flight schedule will see a completely standardised long-haul product for the first time across all markets as well.
Busy Period For The Airbus A330neo
For the Airbus A330neo, after a relatively slow period, it has been a hectic period of new purchases and much interest as well.
The A330neo was also considered by the planemaker as a slow grower, additionally paired with the requirement for not thousands of orders for the program to break even.
At the end of May, Airbus announced that VietJet had increased its commitment to the A330neo with a deal for 40 jets, with the A330-900 selected as part of a doubling of an existing order placed one year prior.
Meanwhile, this contract marks the second in the same month for the widebody program with Malaysia Airlines, which also exercised purchase rights for an additional 20 A330-900 jets at the beginning of the month.

Those deliveries from Airbus are also expected to occur over a two-year period, beginning in 2029 and concluding in 2031, similar to what Condor has most recently agreed upon.
Now, the lengthy periods of no commitment have ended, and the A330neo has been able to work its way into the limelight, garnering interest that has evolved into firm new orders to boost the program’s backlog.
