Airbus has secured another order for its A330neo program with Vietnamese-based VietJet increasing its commitment.

The newest deal means the budget carrier will have a total of 40 Airbus A330neos, with 20 units added to the existing order of 20, which was placed last year.

VietJet’s newest purchase is part of a plan to prepare for future decades, with a great emphasis on meeting demand and ensuring that aircraft deliveries remain a present part of the business moving forward.

As delivery slots for several aircraft programs begin to be snapped up, securing purchases of planes such as the A330neo assures that planes will arrive in the future to support global network expansion.

VietJet is targeting the use of these A330neos on a wide array of routes, with no genuine limitations in place for target markets, and European services are also targeted for some time in the future.

In the short to medium term, the aircraft will help boost flying to markets across the Asia Pacific, which are not only highly competitive but also continue to show solid signs of growth.

For Airbus, the latest purchase of the A330neo is a testament to the product they’re offering to airline customers.

The Rise Of The Airbus A330neo

When the A330neo launched, it did so with the knowledge that thousands of orders were not required to break even on the program.

However, despite this, progress on new commercial aircraft orders was slow, and during the pandemic, several order cancellations also occurred.

As a result, many began to doubt the place of the Airbus aircraft and whether it would ultimately be deemed a commercial success.

What the A330neo program did have on its side was the youthful age of the A330ceo, when the new-engine option launched, the jet it was intended to one day replace was still young, with many airlines, and those operators were not seeking a replacement.

The widebody has been able to capitalise on the fleet renewal efforts and the desire from some operators for a more modest mid-sized widebody aircraft to join their operation.

Over the past few years, the program has secured a substantial number of new orders from major international airlines, and the backlog has continued to expand.
