Bonza continues expanding as it gears up for the summer season and peak holiday demand.

The carrier has commenced service towards Tasmania for the first time with flights from the Gold Coast to Launceston.

New Service Down South

Bonza’s debut in Tasmania has been a long time coming and has been made possible thanks to opening a third base on the Gold Coast.

Operating as flight AB1755, the aircraft arrived at Launceston just after 1400 with a lunchtime departure from the Gold Coast.

Bonza’s VH-UIK operated the inaugural flight, otherwise named ‘Bazza’. The low-cost airline says it’ll aim to offer three services per week on the route.

Departures are currently slated for Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays as part of a commitment to expand and offer Australians better connectivity and pricing.

A debut in Tasmania also joins the long list of connections offered across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Comments From Executives

As Bonza’s gateway to Tasmania, we know there’s strong demand for locals on the Gold Coast, Northern NSW and South Brisbane to fly direct to Launceston. In fact, the route is proving one of our most popular from the Gold Coast so far.

Today is also a big win for tourism operators on the Gold Coast, Tweed and Tasmania as we continue to stimulate new markets. Forward bookings over summer and through to early May are looking strong. Within days, we will be releasing more flights for sale so travellers can book flights on the Gold Coast to Launceston route up until September 2024.

The Mission Of Bonza

Bonza is Australia’s new and only independent low-cost carrier looking to offer customers a more personalised experience while flying.

The airline has 38 routes to 21 destinations with a core business focus of offering flights to unserved and underserved markets.

Additionally, Bonza has adopted an app-first approach through its Bonza app. As a result, the primary method to book flights is through their app rather than a website.

A taste of Australia can be felt inside the aircraft with an all-Aussie menu and service comparable to Uber Eats and other delivery apps with order-in-your-seat options.

Bonza operates with a fleet of Boeing 737 MAXs. In the future, it’ll look to grow its fleet with time and continue expansion efforts.
