Avelo Airlines Add Three New Routes

Avelo Airlines has announced plans to add three new routes towards the East Coast as it celebrates one year of calling Raleigh-Durham a base.

Avelo Airlines is celebrating the first birthday of operating through its base in Raleigh-Durham, and to celebrate, it says it’s launching three new East Coast routes.

The first service commencement is scheduled for May 9, 2024, with Frederick Douglas Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) connected.

Avelo says this flight will operate twice a week, with departures on Thursdays and Sundays to meet the forecasted demand between these locations.

From May 10, 2024, Avelo says it’ll operate a twice-weekly service between Albany International Airport (ALB) and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). The flight is expected to run on Mondays and Fridays and act as another essential connection from Raleigh-Durham.

Additionally, on the same day, Avelo said it’ll launch operations between Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) and Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). These flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays.

One Year In Raleigh/Durham

Avelo says that since opening a base in RDU, it has served more than 230,000 customers with more than 1,700 flights operated. These figures follow the opening of the base on February 15, 2023.

Following the opening of this base, Avelo says it was able to add a second aircraft to the base. Additionally, the airline says it now employs around 90 RDU-based employees. This includes pilots, flight attendants, airport customer service members, and technical operations Crew, among many other roles.

Since launching flights in 2021, Avelo says it has flown 4 million customers across 30,000 flights and now serves 48 destinations across 23 states plus Puerto Rico. The airline focuses on offering as much convenience as possible with its low-priced fares and other iniaitives undertaken by the airline.
