Austrian Airlines has announced it'll launch nonstop flights from Vienna to Boston with its Boeing 767 to boost connectivity.

Austrian Airlines has announced plans to launch a new long-haul destination to better connect Vienna with the United States in the summer season.

Flights To Boston Coming

From July 2024, Austrian Airlines says it’ll offer nonstop flights between Vienna and Boston with up to six weekly flights on a year-round service.

The three-class configuration Boeing 767-300 will embark on the journey to the bustling East Coast city, with this aircraft offering 211 seats.

Spanning some 6,500 kilometres, Austrian says the flight will have a duration of around 9 hours and will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

However, they’ll also operate a service between the two locations to achieve the six weekly flights every second Tuesday. Ultimately, the announcement substantially increases connectivity and will bring more visitors to Vienna; at least, that’s what the airline hopes.

The Schedule

Austrian Airlines says service will depart Vienna at 1040, with an arrival into Boston occurring at 1350.

After just over 3 hours on the ground, the 767 will depart back to Vienna at 1710, with an arrival in Austria the following morning at 0725.

These flights have been optimised for onward connectivity to be made possible, whether in the United States or throughout Europe, with enough time to connect.

Austrian has designated OS91 and OS92 as the flight numbers for this Vienna to Boston service.

Comments From Executives

We are excited to announce Boston as a new and highly attractive destination. This expansion enhances our long-haul offering and strengthens the Vienna hub. Boston’s world-renowned universities, including Harvard and MIT, business connections, and the city’s unparalleled charm make it a fascinating and enticing travel destination. Additionally, it will be even easier for visitors and tourists from New England to come to Vienna in the future.

A Big Boost Overall

By adding Boston to the network, Austrian Airlines’ overall intercontinental footprint will grow to 19 destinations. However, there will be 125 cities worldwide in total.

Being part of Lufthansa Group also significantly aids the company’s connectivity, as Austrian customers can seamlessly connect to other airlines within the group.
