American Airlines Announces European Expansion

American Airlines will continue its commitment to expansion as it announces routes for 2024.

The airline will resume and launch new services to European destinations for the 2024 summer season.

Dallas Fort Worth to Barcelona is slated to begin on 1st June, a meaningful connection as American becomes the first carrier to offer a nonstop service.

Meanwhile, Chicago will see a nonstop connection towards Venice in Italy. This isn’t a new route; rather, the resumption of daily flights following the COVID-19 pandemic hampering the international network of the major U.S. carrier.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, will see a substantial increase of European services in the space of a month, with Nice beginning on the 5th of May, followed by Copenhagen on the 1st of June and finally Naples 4 days later on the 5th of June.

All three new destinations offer a rich, diverse experience for travellers. Whether they’re looking to explore the coastal scenery of the Riviera, bask in the natural beauty of the Nordic region, or simply seeking to enjoy Aperol and pizza with Vesuvius as a backdrop. Or for those travelling from Europe to the States for summer, Philadelphia provides the perfect gateway to explore a vast range of destinations, all providing a different sense of adventure.

Kyle Mabry, American Airlines Vice President of Operations and Commerical

The significant expansion will see American Airlines offer 67 daily flights to European cities during the summer of 2024, a substantial increase on the 2023 performance and years prior when pandemic-related restrictions meant American Airlines could not operate as usual.
