Emirates is continuing to suspend all flights to, from, and via Dubai, with the extension marking one of its most significant shutdowns in history.

The latest update from the airline reiterates that services cannot resume until authorities reopen the affected airspace and the business has safety assurances that it can safely resume scheduled passenger operations without risking its crew and customers.

Passengers across the network have faced significant uncertainty over the last 24 hours, with ongoing cancellations and diversions, and many are stranded across markets globally without a firm plan.

The latest advisory calls for the temporary suspension of all operations to and from Dubai until 1500 UAE time on Monday, 2 March 2026.

What Is Emirates Advising?

Emirates says that if you are booked to travel before or on 5 March 2026, you can rebook on an alternative flight. This would see another option put forward to reach the intended destination on or before 20 March 2026, with the requirement to contact a flight or travel agent or the airline directly.

Additionally, customers can request a refund for their ticket by completing the relevant refund form. This can be done if booked directly with Emirates; however, if booked through a travel agent, it must be completed with that agent.

All customers, however, are urged to check their flight status now more than ever before proceeding to the airport. This comes as airports are already congested, with flights already being cancelled or diverted, and further people at these locations globally means further chaos.

The airline also apologised for the inconvenience caused to customers by the many disruptions, but says it remains active in monitoring developments and engaging with the relevant authorities.

Why Are Emirates Flights Grounded?

The continued suspension of Emirates’ operations is driven by airspace closures and ongoing security risks, which have followed an escalation of military tensions following strikes conducted by the United States and Israel on Iran.

Authorities have heavily restricted the Gulf corridor, which remains so critical to so many people and airlines and as a result, forced planes to be grounded worldwide because of an inability to return home.

With widebody aircraft, especially reliant on the safe passage across long routes, the instability of overflight permissions means that Emirates and other airlines, such as Qatar Airways, cannot resume their operations without compromising the safety of all involved and violating regulations.
