An Air Canada Boeing 787 Dreamliner

Air Canada has celebrated the service launch between Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and Seoul Incheon (ICN) as part of continued network expansion.

The route will be operated four times weekly until October 24, 2024, using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Ultimately, connectivity between Montreal and Seoul aligns with existing services from Toronto and Vancouver and is thus the third on the network.

Flights commenced on June 18, with the airline celebrating the launch with the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) and Air Canada executives.

Executives highlighted that 2024 has been designated the year of the Korea-Canada Cultural Exchange. As a result, the route will boost Canadians’ ability to travel to Korea and vice versa. Furthermore, the service will provide access to the Quebec province.

Air Canada celebrates the launch of flights from Montreal to Seoul Incheon

For the Canadian flag carrier, there have been several markets within its view; however, due to a lack of available aircraft, the airline hasn’t been able to deploy necessary flights when it wants.

Air Canada targets markets such as Melbourne, Australia, from Vancouver but needs to await the delivery of new Boeing aircraft before making routes such as these possible.

However, deploying seasonal routes, such as between Montreal and Seoul Incheon, is fantastic for enabling an airline to test the waters between two markets. Not all seasonal routes have to turn into year-round operations, and there is also potential to capture demand across a multi-month period before this drops back off.
