Air Canada Announces European Expansion

Air Canada has announced plans to expand in the Summer of 2024 with new routes and growth to European destinations.

Beginning next May, a year-round Montreal to Madrid service will start. Through this addition and other upcoming changes previously announced, it hopes to operate at 100% of its peak summer 2019 trans-Atlantic capacity.

Air Canada’s new Madrid service will depart Montreal as AC834 at 2030 before arriving in Madrid the next day at 0940. It’ll return as AC835, leaving at 1315 and entering Montreal at 1520. The Spain-bound flight departs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

On top of the Madrid service launch, there’ll also be other changes in Montreal with a host of changes to the network.

However, while Montreal will see service increases for 2024, it’ll also increase flights from Toronto, with many European cities getting boosts.

We are excited to announce a significant expansion of our service offering to Italy, with a combined three daily flights from Toronto and Montreal to Rome, as well as daily services to Milan and Venice. This underpins the importance of Italy in Air Canada’s global network, as we are the largest carrier between Canada and Italy, and the only one connecting the two countries on a year-round basis.

  1. Vancouver is (again) left out; how many European destinations, direct flights, are reachable from YVR?
