Air Canada is preparing for its winter 2024/25 schedule by increasing flights to India and launching a new service to meet growing demand.
The Canadian flag carrier says it’ll add 40% more seat capacity across the winter schedule from late October.
Air Canada recognises that India is an incredibly important market on its network. Additionally, the market is consistently growing, which makes it very appealing to continue increasing flights.
However, Air Canada also realises that its expansion needs to be measured as it battles with aircraft constraints. The airline has several new aircraft slated to join the fleet in the coming years, which is essential to meeting growth and returning to new markets such as Melbourne, Australia.
For now, though, Air Canada has only a certain number of aircraft that can be deployed to certain cities. Therefore, it is being forced to be restrictive with its expansion and calculate each move.
Ultimately, India is just one of the regions experiencing substantial growth the flag carrier wants to meet. However, it’s aware it needs to be patient.
Toronto To Mumbai Launching
As part of the schedule, new nonstop flights between Toronto and Mumbai will launch on October 27 with four weekly flights. The flight will, therefore, connect the two largest cities in the two respective countries.
Air Canada says it’ll launch the service with the Boeing 777-200LR, which will feature Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Furthermore, the schedule has been optimised to enable convenient connections across Canada and the United States.
AC46 will depart Toronto (YYZ) at 2000 with a 2145 arrival into Mumbai (BOM), departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Meanwhile, the return leg AC47 will depart Mumbai (BOM) at 2345, and the next day, it will arrive in Toronto (YYZ) at 0645.
Air Canada says the flight will coincide with the winter schedule for 2024/25 and thus operate from October 27, 2024, through March 28, 2025.
More Schedule Changes At Air Canada
Despite the launch of a new service, Air Canada isn’t stopping there with plans to offer a triangular route from Calgary through Delhi via London Heathrow.
This flight is expected to operate daily as AC850/851. However, the leg from London through to Delhi will occur only for the winter 2024/25 season, which concludes on March 29, 2025. Essentially, the Delhi tag will be added to the end of the flight.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner will operate on this route with Signature Class, Premium Economy, and Economy. Similarly to the Mumbai flight, Air Canada says that it’s optimised the schedule further with Vancouver to London Heathrow flights, enabling greater connectivity from London to Delhi on their aircraft.

The carrier will also operate daily flights from Montreal to Delhi during winter, with 25 weekly flights to India. As a result, this will be the largest weekly schedule offered by any carrier between the two countries.
