Emirates is planning to welcome a new aircraft type to its fleet and, as such, has revealed the first route the airline hopes the first unit will be deployed on.
The Dubai-based airline will acquire its first Airbus A350 next year as part of its commitment to fleet renewal and growth. With an expected arrival date of summer 2024, Emirates will deploy the aircraft to serve points such as Adelaide in Australia.
Emirates cancelled its Adelaide operation in the early stages of 2020, citing the pandemic; however, it is yet to resume the service as part of its commitment to Australia.
Discussions are reportedly ongoing about debuting the A350 series to Adelaide once delivered. However, these are positive, and the carrier is excited about a potential return that’s been a long time in the making.
Emirates says that acquiring the A350 will substantially help facilitate further expansion and free up more aircraft, alongside more opportunities for its international network.
50 Airbus A350s remain on order as part of Emirates’ commitment to the aircraft. However, many are curious about what they will mean for the overall route network, especially for exciting new additions.

Really excited to see what options aircraft such as the A350 opens up and to Australia as well!
As a retired Qantas Family member I note that we (QF) are awaiting the A350xxx the claimed airborne time is around 22 hours so giving this model a fantastic range plus it will be a valuable acquisition to the Qantas fleet probably allowing QF to retire many of it’s ageing 737-800s possibly being replaced with A321ULD or even better utilising the current Boeing 787-900 aircraft
