Emirates is again sending the Airbus A380 daily to Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX) from its hub, Dubai International Airport (DXB).
The first flight today, 1 September 2026, sees the Airbus A380-800 replace the Boeing 777-300ER, which had previously flown the route, restoring another link with the superjumbo.
By increasing its seat capacity to Osaka, Emirates also ensures that one of the airline’s two Japanese gateways welcomes the aircraft and gains increased premium and economy capacity.
The airline will continue to operate the daily service as EK316 from Dubai and EK317 on the return from Osaka, with the established service timings unchanged.
Flightradar24 data shows that A6-EVH is operating the first flight back with the Airbus A380-800; Emirates delivered this A380-800 in December 2018, and it is 8.1 years old and carries manufacturer serial number (MSN) 257.
Daily Airbus A380 Flights Return To Osaka
The previously announced change will now see, from 1 September 2026 onwards, the Airbus A380 feature between Dubai and Osaka Kansai, with daily operation on the world’s largest passenger plane.
Under the schedule, EK316 departs Dubai at 0300 and arrives at Osaka Kansai at 1715. The return flight EK317 departs Osaka Kansai at 2345 and arrives back in Dubai at 0435 the following day, all times local.
Through this replacement, Emirates isn’t increasing frequency between the two cities; it maintains daily service but is upgrading the aircraft from the 777-300ER to the Airbus A380.

The Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft, restores a higher seat count between the two cities, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER previously used on the route. Additionally, the full flagship product mix returns to Kansai, presenting more opportunities for travellers.
Emirates has flown the Airbus A380 to Kansai before, including its upgraded four-class model just two years ago. During that temporary change, the airline said it would add close to 1,000 additional seats per week on the Dubai–Osaka route before reverting to the 777-300ER schedule.
Emirates Sends Its Four-Class A380 to Osaka
Emirates will send its four-class Airbus A380 to Osaka; it previously assigned the four-class model as well, with 14 First Class private suites, 76 Business Class seats, 56 Premium Economy seats and 338 Economy Class seats, for a total of 484 passengers.
This aircraft offers more premium-cabin seating than the Boeing 777-300ER it replaces and notably features Premium Economy. The cabin, positioned above Economy Class, has been a prominent addition to the A380 and the broader fleet programme in response to customers’ evolving demands and premium requirements.

Beyond Premium Economy, the A380 also brings First Class Shower Spa facilities and the popular upper-deck onboard lounge; these features are not available on the Boeing 777 because of the cabin size difference.
For Osaka, the return of the A380 brings not only additional seats but the opportunity for customers to experience its premium products across more cabin classes. Flying via Dubai also improves access to the UAE and adds one-stop connections to Africa, the Americas, and Europe.
