Xiamen Airlines is a Chinese carrier that has made a name for itself by being a Boeing operator. However, at the end of 2022, the airline welcomed its first Airbus aircraft, an A321neo.

Airbus handed over the aircraft at its facility in Hamburg, Germany. The delivery marks the first of ten A321neos that the Chinese airline has on order.

Before the delivery of the first A321neo, the Boeing 737 series was the backbone of the airline’s narrowbody operations. They served routes across China and Asia.

The A321neo is a narrowbody aircraft designed for medium-haul flights. It has quickly shot to success with customers thanks to its flexibility. With the plane capable of seating 200+ passengers, it slots into several markets globally, depending on the configuration.

The Airbus A321neo is quickly becoming a popular option for airlines globally.

The A321neo not only complements existing fleets but also delivers greater efficiency. This is a decision being made by carriers globally.

With the Airbus A321LR and A321XLR eventually joining the A321neo family, Airbus has quickly seen potential to expand and fill niches that lack a modern aircraft. Especially with Boeing’s decision not to move forward with a middle-of-the-market airliner until the 2030s.
