Airbus announced its October deliveries, showing 62 jets shipped off across its commercial airplanes division.
Therefore, the total tally for 2024 has now reached 559, which is considerably lower than what Airbus would ideally like and leaves them in a rather difficult position to meet their end-of-year target.
At the end of 2023, Airbus made its intentions clear, hoping to reach 800 deliveries in 2024, a jump of 80 total units from its 2023 forecast.
Furthermore, Airbus hoped that fundamental business areas would stabilise, allowing it to reach its forecasted targets.
However, very early in the year, it became apparent that things wouldn’t stabilise at the rate needed to achieve the total figure of 800 across the calendar year.
As a result, Airbus refined its overall estimates and reduced the yearly target from 800 to 770, a reduction of 30 units. However, after October’s results, that seems to be a stretch.
Therefore, in the last two months of the year, Airbus would need to deliver 211 aircraft to meet its annual target, which will be an incredible challenge considering the planemaker’s current operating climate.
In the last few years, Airbus has enjoyed a successful last few months of the calendar year, which helps elevate overall yearly figures, but this is a colossal challenge that the planemaker is unlikely to meet.
While things seem to be improving on the manufacturer’s end, it isn’t enough for things to recover and meet the target. Thus, according to some analysts, further refinement shouldn’t necessarily come as a shock.
Across the calendar month, Airbus also took on 82 orders, largely led by the sale of 60 A321neos to Riyadh Air, which is aiming to grow incredibly fast and launch scheduled passenger flights in 2025.
