Delta has announced plans to expand its network and realign key aircraft to markets that were previously featured across its operation.

One of the more notable changes is the relaunch of flights to Shanghai, which is part of the airline’s attempts to rebuild its route network to key Asian markets.

The U.S. carrier says flights will relaunch between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) in June 2025.

Thrice weekly flights will be deployed between the two cities with Delta to utilise what it calls its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900. This widebody is a popular option for widebody long-haul flying.

The A350s have Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin options. As a result, customers are given ample choice.

While the route is still subject to government approval, the return will occur for the first time since the airline axed this flight during the global pandemic.

Delta notes that the U.S. and China markets still haven’t reached pre-COVID levels of flying, but the recommencement of routes such as these from the major company can be viewed as a step in the right direction.

More Flying To Europe

Delta will also offer new nonstop flights from its key hub, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), to Copenhagen Airport (CPH).

The first-ever flights are part of Delta’s ambition to rapidly increase customer connectivity options when flying between the United States and Europe.

Delta will fly thrice weekly between the two locations, and service is expected to commence in May 2025.

Once launched, Delta will offer customers access to seven different European destinations from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). It is incredibly proud of this feat and hopes to continue developing it as more aircraft become available alongside network shuffles.

Delta highlights that 2025 will mark its largest transatlantic summer schedule, with over 700 weekly flights to 33 European destinations beyond. Some of these routes will be new, and others will be increased services.

Interestingly, Delta‘s largest flight schedule came a day after United Airlines announced something similar with its network for transatlantic operations.

As each airline looks to grow its business, primarily if based in the United States, with the arrival of more aircraft, these networks will only continue growing each year.
