United Airlines is already gearing up to begin its summer 2025 schedule even before the northern winter begins with its largest-ever international expansion.
The company will offer its largest-ever transatlantic schedule, with more than 760 weekly flights to over 40 destinations, with more flying to Spain, Italy, Greece, France, and Croatia.
These trademark stances of ‘the largest ever Trans-Atlantic schedule’, however, seem to be outdone with every passing year as airlines such as United continue to grow their operations.
Eight new cities will also begin being served by United Airlines across the summer schedule as the airline responds to increasing demand and aims to grow its overall network accessibility for customers.
As part of the network expansion, the airline will begin flying nonstop between Newark Liberty and the following.
- Nuuk, Greenland
- Palermo, Italy
- Bilbao, Spain
- Madeira Island, Portugal
- Faro, Portugal.
To respond to increased demand, the carrier will also begin serving new and existing markets from Washington, D.C.
- Dakar, Senegal to operate year-round
- New seasonal flights to Nice, France
- New seasonal flights to Venice, Italy
Flight increases will also be present across the summer schedule, with more weekly flights between Newark Liberty and Palma de Mallorca. Furthermore, Newark to Dubrovnik in Croatia and Newark to Athens will all increase.
United is ultimately leveraging its hub of Newark and the geographical positioning of this airport to its advantage in allowing greater expansion across the Atlantic for the 2025 schedule.
Tokyo Narita Focus Of Expansion
Ultimately, Transatlantic flying will not be the focus. Other locations will be served, with a focus on Tokyo Narita getting more Transpacific flights.
United notes it’ll offer new direct flights from Tokyo Narita to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia and Kaohsiung. These are destinations that United says no other U.S. carrier is currently serving. Moreover, there’ll be a new nonstop flight to Koror, Palau.
This expansion is largely due to the airline’s desire to increase its market share in new markets where it will not face competition. It also involves the delivery of new aircraft and the optimization of current assets.
United Expands Into Mexico & Central America
Flying towards Mexico and Central America will be another key focus moving into the future, with 2025 greater connectivity from Newark Liberty and Houston, among other airports such as San Francisco, using its regional and mainline aircraft.

Markets such as Costa Rica, Mexico, and the broader Latin and Caribbean region, among others, will also see increased but also new connectivity options.
