EL AL Confirms 737 MAX Order

EL AL Israel Airlines has finalised a landmark purchase with Boeing for up to 31 next-generation 737 MAX jets.

The order is the largest one in EL AL’s 76-year history. It represents a commitment to future flying, with a focus on the fleet’s modernisation efforts and growth.

EL AL states that the purchase will allow it to offer the highest levels of technology and advanced series across single-aisle operations, with the MAX’s capabilities shining through.

EL AL also believes the 737 MAX will be instrumental in modernisation efforts, as it will work alongside its existing fleet of Boeing 787s.

The 787 Dreamliners act as a pivotal part of the widebody and, thus, long-haul network; however, modernising the fleet through the MAX will also be beneficial.

The 737 MAX will enable EL AL to achieve the best per-seat economics in the class. Beyond that, the aircraft will allow for greater environmental performance, which is a huge focus for many airlines.

While companies look towards the natural progress of their fleet, including a focus on removing older aircraft for newer ones, sustainability and meeting emission targets across future decades are equally important.

The MAX will have a 20% reduction in fuel use and emissions compared to the aircraft it will replace and a 50% lower noise footprint.

Boeing says it’s excited to finalise the purchase from EL AL to provide future MAX jets to them and believes that the aircraft will aid the carrier in the future decades.

EL AL has had a busy year, and earlier, it confirmed it’d take on an additional 787. Now, finalising the MAX commitment is an important next step.
