TAAG Angola Airlines has announced plans to acquire three Airbus A220-300s from Azorra, a growing aircraft lessor.
The three units will be delivered to the airline from July 2024 onwards and will play an essential role as the flag carrier for Angola.
Currently, TAAG Angola has 13 aircraft in service spread across multiple fleet types. This includes 1 in-service A330-200, 3 737-7800s, 4 77-300ERs and 5 Dash 8-Q400s. Adding three A220-300s on a lease from Azorra will join existing commitments to fly the Airbus A220.
The A220 will play a fundamental role in the company’s long-term future and enable expansion to new destinations thanks to its capabilities.
Azorra says the lease deal is significant as it will see the theme expand its presence in Africa through a partnership with TAAG and aligns with the respective companies restructuring plans and strategic objectives.
